Getting Police Clearance in Dubai

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings. Police certificate is also known as good citizen certificate, good conduct certificate, police clearance certificate, or judicial record extracts.

Applicants may have to submit fingerprints and certain personal information to request a criminal record check, and the police or government agency may charge a fee. If no record found, the police certificate will indicate such.

The police clearance certificate in Dubai can be obtained in person from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) located at Dubai Police Head Quarters near Al Mullah Plaza and opposite Metro station. There is also an existing office in Bur Dubai for those living in Satwa and the surrounding areas. On getting the application form, you are asked of three things:

  • Original passport with copy
  • 2 Passport size photographs
  • An applicant must be holding at least six months old residence visa from UAE.

There are two sides of the form, one in English, the other in Arabic. In the case the request is to one of the Police Stations, application should be in Arabic and if it is to CID, it can be in Arabic or English.
The fee for the certificate is approximately 110 AED. The fees paid are not refundable. If you have an Emirates ID card, fingerprints are not needed as the ID card has the fingerprints. Certificates of Good Conduct can be obtained from Dubai Police within 2-3 working days for residents within the country.
